Letter to Parents/Carers COVID-19 (18.3.20)

Updated: 3 days ago

Dear Parents/Carers

With the continuing stream of information and guidance regarding Covid -19 we are trying as a school to pass this onto you as we receive it. At present schools are remaining open and the following information and resources will hopefully help reassure and provide information for what we are doing.

Home learning whist self isolating or in the event of school closures:

With an increasing number of families needing to self isolate we have set remote learning up via e-mail which will provide tasks and activities for pupils to do with information and advice on how to complete them, e-mail communication will provide a platform to ask teachers questions about  the tasks and activities. Please could you ensure we have an up to date e-mail address for you. If you do not have e-mail please contact the school to discuss ways we can facilitate home learning.

Routines and procedures in school:

As has been mentioned in previous communication we are following all of the guidance from Public Health with an enhanced cleaning regime taking place each evening and constant reminders to pupils to wash hands and use the hand gels provided. In addition to this, planned parents’ evenings for the rest of this term are cancelled, there is closure of the premises to external groups and termination of fixtures, trips and similar activities. Any pupil or member of staff who shows the symptoms identified by the government is advised to self-isolate.

Public Health Guidance:

If your child is unwell with a new, continuous cough or high temperature, please ensure that they stay at home in order to avoid spreading infection to others.  Otherwise, they should attend school as normal. The advice issued  is that this also applies to anyone in the family. So, if your child lives with anyone who develops such a cough or temperature, they should stay at home for 14 days. If a child becomes unwell at school with a new, continuous cough or high temperature we will contact you in order to arrange for their collection as soon as possible.

Help and support: This is a challenging and worrying time for us all and whilst we are all trying to make sense of the enormity of the situation; as a school we understand the pressure this can place on children and families. We are using the following resources to support children in understanding what is happening, feel free to use these at home as well:

If things are becoming difficult, or you or your family need help please contact us and we will signpost and support to all sorts of resources and advice.
